Applying for ACCS

In situations where a family requires ACCS assistance, the initial step is to apply for a 6-week certificate. This certificate is a prerequisite before seeking extended coverage through a determination. The purpose of the 6-week certificate is to allow time to compile evidence supporting a longer-term determination request, which can provide ACCS coverage for 13 weeks to a year. It's crucial to note that you can only apply for ACCS on a family's behalf if there's a child at risk. For other circumstances, like financial challenges or grandparent carers, the family must submit their application directly through MyGov.
